Apple iPhone 13 Top Smartphones of 2022
The best-selling smartphone of 2022 was Apple’s iPhone 13, which comprised 28 percent of all iPhone sales. It was the most popular smartphone in major markets like China, US, UK, Germany and France. Also, from its launch in September 2021 to August 2022, the iPhone 13 was the top smartphone every month. After the iPhone 14 series came out, the prices came down, which helped sell more iPhone 13s in developing markets. In 2022, the iPhone 13 sold twice as many units as the iPhone 13 Pro Max, which was the second best-selling smartphone.
In 2022, an iPhone series’ Pro Max model sold more units than its Pro and base models for the first time. This helped the iPhone 14 Pro Max to reach number three on the 2022 list. The iPhone 14 Pro series is more attractive as it comes with major improvements like Dynamic Island and faster processor. Although the base model is almost the same as last year.
Samsung occupies only two places in the list
Samsung grabbed two spots on the list with its entry-level models, the Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A03, one more than last year. There were only two LTE smartphones in the list. The geographic contribution of these models was more evenly distributed than that of iPhones.
The Samsung Galaxy A13, like its predecessor, continues to perform well despite offering attractive specifications for its pricing. The Caribbean and Latin America (CALA), followed by India, contributed the most to its sales. The Samsung Galaxy A03 was the cheapest smartphone in the list and the only smartphone powered by UNISOC. The smartphone performed well in developing regions such as CALA, the Middle East and Africa (MEA).
