Speaking to Inverse, Pei confirmed that the company is looking at the US as a priority market for the launch of the Nothing phone (2). While this does not mean that the Nothing Phone (2) will not come to India, it does suggest that the US will be one of the first markets to get the phone. As a reminder, Nothing Phone (1) was never officially released in the US. “We have decided to make the US our No. 1 priority in terms of markets,” Pei told Inverse.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe could not do it earlier as we were only in our second year and our hands were tied to build the team as we were building the products. Now that we are on more solid ground, we can take a step forward,” Pei said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nothing Phone (1) was the startup’s first smartphone and attracted a lot of attention for its transparent design language. This design philosophy can also be seen in the company’s other products such as the Ear(1) and Ear(Stick). <\/p>\n

While Pei has confirmed that the successor to the Nothing Phone (1) will be called the Nothing Phone (2) and will launch in 2023, we don’t have an exact launch date yet. While Pei was careful not to reveal anything specific about the upcoming Nothing phone (2), he did reveal that the phone would be “more premium” than its predecessor and that software would be a big focus area. In terms of premium, Pei suggests the Nothing Phone (2) will offer flagship-grade specifications and a higher price than the Phone (1). However, the Nothing CEO isn’t calling the Nothing Phone (2) a flagship because “that would mean the phone (1) wasn’t a flagship.”<\/p>\n
