What Huawei\u2019s new notch design could look like<\/h2>\n

According to a report by Huawei Central, the new notch design could appear on the upcoming flagship smartphone, the Huawei Nova 11. The notch will be shaped like a pill, and will have software optimizations that can see its shape change based on inputs. You have received<\/p>\n

While this shape shifting results in an extended notification bar on either side of the notch, thus making it a software optimization feature, Apple\u2019s implementation makes it look like an extension of the notch, which hosts the front camera and face recognition mechanism . As of now, it\u2019s unclear how Huawei\u2019s implementation will work, though an edited render of the phone, which shows a pill-shaped notch on the front, looks like the iPhone dynamic island notch.<\/p>\n

Sure, the pill-shaped notch isn\u2019t particularly new. Last year\u2019s Huawei Nova 10 Pro had the same notch design, to accommodate the dual front cameras. Previous phones from other brands have done this too. However, this could be the first time that Huawei will incorporate software features to increase or change the size of the notch, as per reports.<\/p>\n

The report, however, makes it more or less clear that the Nova 11 will not be a global device, or even feature 5G connectivity \u2013 factors that have plagued Huawei phones ever since the brand was forced to adopt a US-designed design. was slapped with restrictions against the use of the technology. The latter was invoked by the then US President, Donald Trump, as suspicions about the company\u2019s cyber espionage acts for the Chinese government emerged. The alleged Huawei Nova 11, therefore, is tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC for performance, but without 5G support.<\/p>\n

Huawei has denied all the allegations leveled against it. However, that hasn\u2019t stopped the brand from not being able to use Google\u2019s mobile services (and hence its app ecosystem), 5G connectivity in modern chipsets, and other features.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
