Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway on March 12, 2023. Dedicating the expressway to the nation, the PM said that connectivity between these two hubs of technology and tradition was important from many angles, and that the expressway would act as a catalyst for socioeconomic development in the region.<\/p>\n

The expressway has been upgraded from a state highway to a 10-lane national highway. The Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway project involves 6-laning of the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta-Mysore section of NH-275. Developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 8,480 crore, the 118-km expressway reduces travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru from around 3 hours to around 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

Noting that the Bengaluru-Mysore Expressway passes through the heritage towns of Ramanagara and Mandya, the PM said the tourism potential would get a boost, while also providing access to the birthplace of Cauvery.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said the construction of the expressway is aimed at improving access to areas such as Srirangapatna, Coorg, Ooty and Kerala, thereby increasing their tourism potential. Gadkari also said that the project, which includes a portion of NH-275, also includes the development of four rail over-bridges, nine important bridges, 40 minor bridges and 89 underpasses and overpasses.<\/p>\n\n

Bangalore-Mysore Expressway: Key Facts<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

The Bangalore-Mysore Expressway in Karnataka will reduce the travel time from Bengaluru to Mysore to 3 hours to 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

“After completion, the travel time between the two cities will be 90 minutes,” Gadkari said earlier, adding that the expressway would ensure development of tourism in Mysore and Srirangapatna and also help the IT industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will enhance connectivity between the two important cities and provide a boost to tourism and economy in the region. This state-of-the-art project has several structures like 8 kilometer long elevated corridor, 9 major bridges, 42 minor bridges, 64 underpasses, 11 overpasses, 4 ROBs and 5 bypasses, which will ease traffic congestion and reduce pollution to a great extent. The Ministry of Road Transport said in an official statement.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Bangalore-Mysore Expressway Toll 2023<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

NHAI has increased the toll tax on the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway by 22-23% with effect from April 1, 2023. Toll tax on round trip will go up to Rs 250.<\/p>\n

Two-wheelers may be banned on the Bengaluru-Mysore highway<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

Amid safety concerns, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to take a step to ban two-wheelers, three-wheelers and agricultural vehicles from the Bangalore-Mysore highway.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

NHAI will solve the problems <\/strong>Bangalore-Mysore Expressway: Ministry <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which has built the 117-km Bangalore-Mysore Expressway, is working to address some of the issues raised by users of the road project, said a stamen issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on March 20. I said, 2023.<\/p>\n

After the completion of a project, the developer is provided with 90 days to rectify and eliminate any issues to ensure a smooth ride experience for commuters.<\/p>\n

\u201cImprovement of expansion joints of one of the major bridge-cum-ROBs was a part of the operation and maintenance of the expressway which was taken up to remove jerks and improve the ride quality on the bridge. The improvement work has been completed and now it has been opened for traffic. NHAI is also addressing the issue of water drainage near Sagabasavandoddi village. Unprecedented rains on March 17, 2023 resulted in water-logging of the carriageway near Animal Overpass at one point on the 117-km-long expressway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe provision of drainage system at this location was blocked by the villagers by pouring mud over the nullah, resulting in water stagnation on the main carriageway. To address this, NHAI has laid pipe gutters with two rows of pipes to facilitate easy flow of rainwater. The work has been completed on March 19, 2023 and traffic is moving smoothly. The issue of non-availability of service road along the expressway has also been highlighted by the local residents. After this NHAI has decided to develop service road.<\/p>\n

On a daily basis, around 55,000 passenger car units are traveling on the expressway, reducing the travel time between the two cities from 4 hours to 1.5 hours.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
