Samsung will manufacture its Galaxy S23 series smartphones in India
The announcement is on the lines of the Union Budget 2023-24 announcement that the import duty on mobile phone camera lenses has been reduced, positively impacting manufacturing in India.
Samsung’s decision to sell ‘Made in India’ Galaxy S23 smartphone reflects the company’s commitment to India’s make and grow story.
While Samsung has been manufacturing its phones in India since 2007, the recent developments come courtesy of the company’s drive for India’s ‘Make in India’ policies. The Samsung Galaxy S23 flagship series of smartphones will be manufactured at the company’s Noida plant located in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The massive facility was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018 and is the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturing facility. The facility is working in full swing and is already meeting the domestic demand for Samsung phones.
The drive to manufacture high-end electronic equipment in India has been adopted by many other companies and companies such as Apple have started manufacturing iPhones in India in a bid shift focus from their manufacturing facilities in China. Apple manufactures the iPhone 12 series in India, except for the Pro models.
