Most tower cranes have a horizontal jib that cannot be moved, but a luffing jib can be raised or lowered to reduce the turning radius of the crane. 1. Aadhaar

2. Mast

7. Operator Cab
The slewing unit of the crane is connected to its control center. To access the cab, the operator must climb stairs within the mast.
Principle behind tower crane operation
Tower cranes have very straightforward operating principles. The overturning forces are balanced by a concrete pad and counterweight suspended from the tool arm. Therefore, while a crane is empty, it is slightly unbalanced due to the counterweight, and it is when the load is carried that the crane is stable.
A winch attached to the trolley by means of a steel cable pulls the load. The stability of a crane is affected by the distance over which the load is pulled from the mast, as this is where the overturning forces arise. Heavier loads are hoisted closer to the mast than lighter ones to reduce the resultant forces.
The crane has a maximum load restriction and load-moment limit switch to prevent overloading. These switches monitor the ‘fall’ and trigger an alarm when a predetermined value is reached.
