Respawn said, “After a strong debut, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile is starting to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity and cadence. It is for this reason that after months of working with our development partners, we have made the mutual decision to discontinue our mobile game. Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we have launched, grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players. Apex Legends Mobile will officially shut down in India on May 2 at 5:30AM ET.
Respawn also specified that it would not provide any refunds of real-world money spent in-game “per the terms of the EA User Agreement”. That said, the developer will halt all real money purchases in a few hours. All previously purchased items and in-game currency will be available in the player’s account until May 2.
EA shared the news about the closure of Apex Legends Mobile as part of its Q3 FY2023 earnings report. In addition to these, EA has announced that it will be discontinuing development of the Battlefield mobile game. The company said, “We have also decided to cease development of existing Battlefield mobile titles. As the industry has evolved and our strategy to build a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem has taken shape, we have changed our vision for the franchise.” To deliver the best and meet the expectations of our players, we have decided to move forward from the current direction.
