ChatGPT rival created by Google to be made available to public soon: Sundar Pichai

How Google plans to compete with ChatGPT

In the earnings call with analysts, Pichai said,More than six years ago, I first talked about Google being an AI-first company. Since then, we have been at the forefront of the development of AI.He cited projects in Transformers in 2017, as well as the diffusion model – a form of neural AI engine – as being fundamental to “many generative AI applications” found across the industry.

,We’ve been preparing for this moment since early last year, and you’re going to see a lot more from us over the coming months in three big areas of opportunity: First, larger models. We published extensively about LaMDA and PaLM, the industry’s largest, most sophisticated models, and extensive work on DeepMind. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll be making these language models available for people to engage with directly, starting with LaMDAPichai said in opening remarks during Alphabet’s earnings call — which saw Google report weaker sales as a weak online advertising market led to a 12.2 percent decline in earnings per share.

Describing how the technology will work, Pichai said, “Very soon, people will be able to interact directly with our latest, most powerful language models as companions to discovery in experimental and innovative ways. We (also) developers , will provide new tools and APIs for makers and partners. This will empower them to innovate and build their own applications with AI on top of our language, multimodal and other AI models and discover new possibilities.

Pichai’s clarification comes after CNBC reported last week about Google’s work on a ChatGPT rival named Apprentice Bard. In the same time frame, OpenAI also introduced a subscription model for ChatGPT, which now costs $20 per month.
