India has the third cheapest mobile data rates in the world

In a study conducted by a UK-based price comparison website, average mobile rates vary widely around the world. The cheapest data rates can be seen in Israel, where 1 GB of data at an average cost only USD 0.04 (~Rs 3.29) and in St. Helena it goes up to USD 41.06 (~Rs 3,376). British Overseas Territory, The rates are cheapest in India at just Rs 13.98 for 1GB mobile internet data.
There is a huge spectrum of rates that can be seen and it is surprising how different users end up paying different amounts for the same quantity of goods. For example, the average data rate in St. Helena is 241 times higher than the data users pay for in India. Similarly, users in countries like China, UK and USA have to pay 2 times, 4.5 times and 33 times more for 1GB of data as compared to users in India.
There is a huge level of penetration in India with the penetration of smartphones and modern internet facilities have improved tremendously in the last decade. India is currently on its way to extend the latest 5G connectivity to its users. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have recently expanded their network coverage in Jammu and Kashmir and North Eastern Indian states.
