WhatsApp is working on the calling shortcut feature as seen in the recent beta rollout of the app. whatsapp beta for android The 2.23.3.15 update from the Play Store shows a new calling shortcut feature that may come in a future iteration of the app. The new feature will allow users to create calling shortcuts for a specific contact which will be automatically added to the home screen.
The new feature will allow users to reduce the time it takes to call a contact via WhatsApp by presenting a direct shortcut at a convenient home screen location. Currently, the same can be done by opening the WhatsApp app on the device and going to a contact’s chat. This feature can be especially useful for Constant Contact, etc.
However this feature is still in its development phase and will be rolled out to beta testers first so that bugs and glitches can be ironed out in the new version. The feature will then make its way to a stable update for the instant messaging app.
