The cause of the explosion is not immediately clear, but luckily, no one was harmed as the device was placed on a bed away from the owner and his family. This prevented any physical injury, as such incidents can be extremely dangerous and potentially cause serious harm. You can watch the video of Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G emitting smoke below.
Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G blast incident: what happened?
Sanjeev Raja alleges that his Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, which was bought in December of 2021, started emitting smoke without being connected to the charger. The phone was lying idle on his bed while he was making tea. When he returned, he managed to video the smoke coming out with his phone. Videos and images shared with 91Mobiles suggest that the damage may be near the battery section, with the middle portion of the rear panel completely burnt away.
The blast was so severe that at least 2-3 layers of the mattress (where the phone was kept) got burnt. The back cover, which appears to be possibly made of rubber, was seen stuck to the bedsheet because of the fire.
We reached out to Xiaomi for comment on the matter but the company is yet to issue a statement. We will update the story as soon as we hear from the brand, so stay tuned with 91mobiles for more on this story.
