5g in india
Currently, only two of the three largest telecom carriers in India are providing 5G services to their customers. Non-Standalone Access (NSA) technology was initially implemented in a commercial setting by Airtel, the first service provider to do so. Jio, on the other hand, is the only Indian operator that uses the 700 MHz band, and is also the only one that has decided to deploy 5G Standalone Access (SA) (5G low-band spectrum).
with citing a reference Rating agency Crisil, in the report, noted that by March 2025, nearly a third of wireless data users in the country, or about 300 million subscribers, are expected to use 5G services, up from 20-25 million in March 2023.
According to CRISIL Ratings director Naveen Vaidyanathan, of the 150-170 million smartphones sold in India, around 30-35 per cent are 5G enabled. While the share of 5G smartphone shipments will progressively increase, the limited initial value proposition and higher cost of devices compared to 4G phones will limit total 5G adoption to 300 million users by fiscal year 2025.
