The OTT rights of the sequel to Ponnin Selvan in India have been acquired by Amazon’s video streaming platform. Titled Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS-2), the film is all set to hit the theaters on April 28. It will be the follow-up to the original PS film, which released last year and did exceptionally well at the box office. Ponniyin Selvan 1 was the highest-grossing Tamil film last year, earning over Rs 500 crore. The film was based on the reign of the Chola dynasty in South India during the 10th century. Ponniyin Selvan 2 (PS-2) Plot
The film is based on the novel named Ponniyin Selvan which is available in five volumes and was written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It explores the 10th century era of South India and describes the reign of the Chola dynasty. The novel is about the story of Arulmozhi Varman, a prince of the Chola Empire, and his journey to reclaim his rightful position as the ruler of the kingdom.

The film stars an ensemble cast in prominent roles such as Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan and Aishwarya Lakshmi. It stars Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sarath Kumar in supporting roles. The film is produced by Lyca Productions while the music is composed by the great AR Rahman. In addition, Ravi Varman and Sreekar Prasad are handling the cinematography and editing respectively. Both the parts of the film are directed by Mani Ratnam with Together elango kumarvel And B. Jayamohan co-wrote the film.
