YouTube Music gets real-time lyrics feature

The lyrics feature is not a new feature on YouTube Music as it was available earlier as well. That said, it was a static piece of text that users could manually scroll through. It was more or less a shortcut for users, as instead of trying to find the lyrics of a particular song on Google, they could access it from within the app itself. However, it’s not an ideal solution, especially since other rival platforms like Spotify and Apple Music have long had a real-time lyrics sync feature.
YouTube Music has finally (seemingly) realized the importance of this feature, and made it available to its users. The developers have been working for several months to add this feature. For those unaware, Google announced a partnership with Musixmatch in October last year. MusicMatch is an industry-leading real-time lyrics provider, and the testing phase for the real-time lyrics feature in collaboration with the same, which started in December, seems to be over, and is finally getting a public release.
Note that the update is a server-side update, so you won’t need to hit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and update your app to get this feature. Instead, the update appears to be account-specific, and will eventually roll out to everyone. If you access your YouTube Music library with more than one Google Account and are still unable to receive the update, you might want to check it with another account. In any case, since this is a public rollout, it won’t take long for it to reach every account.
