Snap launched My AI earlier this year in February, but only for paid Snapchat+ subscribers. My AI is developed using OpenAI’s GPT technology, the same one that powers the popular ChatGPT. In a press release, Snap said that My AI has so far sent nearly 2 million messages per day and learned about users’ movies, sports, pets and the world around them. My AI has some features that are integrated into chat and other tools on Snapchat.

Snapchat already lets you create and customize your own Bitmoji. Similarly, My AI also gets a custom Bitmoji with a name so that you can start chatting with it. My AI can also join your group chats, and you can do so by typing @My AI and asking it a question. Snap says everyone in the group is alerted when the AI enters a chat by adding a glow next to their name.

As My AI is integrated into the other features of the app, it leverages them for the user. For example, My AI can offer recommendations taken from a Snap Map. It can also suggest relevant lenses. So you can ask My AI to suggest lens recommendations for weekend activities or different occasions. My AI can also receive Snaps and send chat replies.

If talking to someone on Snapchat isn’t enough, the company will also let you talk to its AI chatbot. Snap+ subscribers will soon be able to ‘Snap’ with My AI and even get “unique generative Snaps” back from the chatbot.

Some examples of how this might work are if you send a picture of a dog, My AI will respond with something similar. And if you send a picture of vegetables, My AI can reply with a recipe for the same.
My AI has started rolling out to all Snapchat users, so it should be available soon along with upcoming features.
