Prime Video to be renamed Amazon TV: Report

Amazon’s over-the-top (OTT) streaming service Prime Video may soon get a new name. According to a new report, Amazon recently conducted a survey that suggests a possible name change from Prime Video to Amazon TV.

Eligible individuals were presented with a survey that included the logo of the service and some other details by Amazon. Individuals were surveyed about their opinion on the new name as well as other possible names such as Amazon Stream, Amazon+, Amazon Streaming and Amazon Premiere.

Amazon Prime Video will get a new name?

The survey image shows artwork from the Amazon Original Series The Rings of Power. Additionally, it featured titles that are not currently available on Prime Video in India, such as Avatar: The Way of Water and HBO’s Succession. This could be because the survey is standardized across countries where Prime Video is offered, or it could suggest that these titles will soon be available on Indian streaming platforms, the report said.

However, the company has not yet officially shared anything on the matter. As OnlyTech reports, it’s possible that Amazon’s use of the term “free app” suggests a move toward a freemium model. This may mean that some content may be available for free with advertisements, while a Prime subscription will give access to Amazon Originals, premium content, and Prime channels that are not available without a subscription.

However, this is purely speculative. It is possible to buy or rent some titles from the Store section of the website even if you do not have a Prime subscription.
