Will the Samsung Galaxy S23 series survive a 6 feet drop?

Samsung Galaxy S23 series drop tested from 6 feet height

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series has been subjected to a series of drop tests from a height of 6 feet on pavement (pavement) using the Dropbot robot. This study has been done by the insurance company Allstate Protection Plans (formerly Square Trade) and its findings suggest that the new Galaxy S23 series is as durable as or more durable than the previous generation Galaxy S22 series, despite having recycled materials in its construction.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series takes Samsung’s pursuit of sustainability forward and its components are made from Recycled glass and ocean bound plastics. Face-down drop tests conducted using the DropBot robot found the vanilla Samsung Galaxy S23 to have a cracked screen with dented glass and loose glass on the end. The bigger twin, the Samsung Galaxy S23+, ended up with a cracked screen with raised glass and frame damage. The largest device, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, fared well and suffered hairline cracks and cracked edges after a fall.

When the devices were subjected to a backwards drop, the Galaxy S23 ended up with a broken back glass and frame damage. The larger Galaxy S23+ suffered a hairline crack and frame damage to its rear panel during the same test. The biggest of them, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, bounced after the fall and ended up with extensive damage. It had a broken lens, cracks and minor frame damage.

The conclusion drawn suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra held up well despite its size and performed substantially better than its S23 siblings. The Galaxy S23 series also outperformed last year’s Samsung Galaxy S22 series. However, testers recommend that users use a screen protector and case to prevent damage in case of a drop.
