Tinder adds video selfie feature for user verification

Tinder already offers photo verification as a way to prove it’s you and not a bot or catfisher. People who are photo verified on Tinder have a blue checkmark next to their profile for more authenticity. And no, it doesn’t pay like Twitter, so you can use this feature for free.

How does Tinder’s video verification work?

Photo verification works by asking users to take selfies in a stable pose and these photos will then be compared to other photos on the user’s profile. Now along with photo verification, video verification is also necessary. You can do this by taking a series of video prompts to complete the process.

Users who have done photo verification will be asked to complete video verification in the coming months. This is a way for Tinder to verify users who may have old photos on the app. As for video selfies, you can start taking them on Tinder now. This feature has been launched globally, and it is free to use.

Tinder gives users more control over who they are talking to by choosing to only receive messages from verified accounts. The feature is rolling out in the coming months and will be available in the app’s messaging settings. Plus, Tinder users who are photo verified can ask their matches to do so before their conversation begins.

Tinder Gold, the paid version of the dating platform, has another feature for its users, who can filter their “likes” to only photo verified users.

Other dating apps like Hinge and Bumble also offer photo verification, and like Tinder the feature is voluntary. You are still free to chat with non-verified users, but it is advisable not to do so if you don’t want to end up with a drawback.
